I will be speaking at the 2016 SPACE Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on June 18th. This incredibly important conference, dedicated to part-time, contingent faculty, is hosted by Kennesaw State University. I’ll be speaking about how the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is being subsumed by Tufts University, and the concurrent impact that has had on its contingent faculty members. By using my experience as a case study, I will explore questions relevant to all contingent educators: how do we stay present and focused for our students in the face of the stress contingency creates? how can we be to be loyal to institutions that cannot promise us a future? and what does this means for today’s students and the fate of the higher educational system as a whole?
